Moments: The Life and Career of a Texas Newsman
Published in Hardcover by Taylor Pub (September, 1995)
Author: Chip Moody
Average review score:

A 'must read' for anyone who has been touched by cancer
Having myself grown up in Dallas, I have watched Chip Moody for many years. There would always be a night when Mr. Moody wasn't in his usual anchor chair behind the news desk ~ he was back in the hospital. My brother was just diagnosed with cancer, and it appears to be the kind that the author of this book has ~ lymphoma. So I was not at all interested in reading a "sterile' medical thesis or a 'grab your hankie' sad story. Mr. Moody tells of his many adventures throughout life. Some have come from being in the profession that he is, and some from having the cancer that he has found himself facing. But be prepared to laugh, Mr. Moody has a real knack for telling stories! There are several chapters that deal with the cancer specifically and what he has gone through from the beginning. This was scary, yet reassuring to read ~ being not from a doctor's standpoint, but from a 'real' person's. The last chapter offers true words of encouragement, especially to those who are going through, or getting ready to go through this tough battle ~ be it as a patient, family member, or friend. I cannot give this book enough stars. Mr. Moody has made me realize that a person can fight back this debilitating disease. Although not all will be victorious in this battle, their courageous fight will enable future warriors more powerful weapons and skills on how to conquer this dreaded enemy. Thank you Mr. Moody ~ All my stars to you.

The Moody Atlas of Bible Lands
Published in Hardcover by Moody Publishers (November, 1985)
Author: Barry J. Beitzel
Average review score:

Clear and Accurate
This is my choice for a Bible atlas. The text and maps are clear and accurate. The map citation index and Scripture index are complete. The time line and color photos help to make this an interesting atlas. For Bible teachers, a complete set of matching overhead transparencies is available. My Bible college students have voted this their #1 choice.

Moody Without Sankey
Published in Paperback by Christian Focus (October, 1995)
Author: John Pollock
Average review score:

Used by God
I am relatively new to a life of following Jesus and I had heard many people speaking so highly of Moody. There are so many biographies of him, but I believe that God placed this one right in my hands. Many times I broke down and wept as I read this book. It is such a beautiful thing to see how God used and is still using this man who surrendered his life completely. Pollock portrays Moody's life in probably the most accurate way by getting many differant perspectives. He quotes from many journals, diares, letters and newspapers. It was very interesting to see how God molded and developed Moody throughout his life and I learned a lot about my relationship with Christ.

The old trails west
Published in Unknown Binding by Promontory Press ()
Author: Ralph Moody
Average review score:

A true account of America's original trailblazing pioneers.
The Old Trails West is a vivid account of the original pioneers who blazed the first trails into North America's western wilderness.

Travel with Spanish conquerors as they claim the American West; share the agony of the catholic priests who literally walked thousands of miles to bring the gospel to an untamed land; experience excitment and danger with the men who brought civilization down the Missouri River.

The book reads like an adventure novel, and Ralph Moody's mixture of history and folklore captures the true spirit that made America great

Open City: The only woman he ever left, #6
Published in Paperback by Publishers' Group West (May, 1998)
Authors: Rick Moody, James Purdy, Strawberry Saroyan, Deborah Garrison, Monica Lewinsky, Michael Cunningham, Rem Koolhaas, Jocko Weyland, Charlie Smith, and Ellen Harvey
Average review score:

One of the best literary magazines around
Open City consistently publishes great stories, poems, essays, and artwork. I look forward to each issue, because each one is so different, and because this magazine continues to be vital and relevant, esp. because many literary magazines are so staid and dull....

Our Accountability to God
Published in Paperback by Moody Publishers (July, 1999)
Authors: Arthur Walkington Pink and Moody Press
Average review score:

Rich and detailed look concerning Total Depravity
This is the most detailed work I have found, by an author of this century, concerning itself entirely to the doctrine of Total Depravity. It is not only a most excellent defense of this doctrine, but as well, a truly thought provoking and humility producing text. It is an excellent work geared to the layman and would suggest it to all for meditation.

GET THIS WHILE YOU CAN
I have been a great fan of D.L. Moody. Any new Christian will benefit from reading this book. From the first chapter to the last he goes through the Bible and just brings out simple truths that will help any Christian live a victorious life. I love how he takes you right into the Bible times through his illustrative Bible stories. This book is a great blessing and I wish I could have enough to give out as gifts.

Paths and Passages
Published in Paperback by Watermark Press (15 December, 2001)
Author: Marvin D. Moody
Average review score:

Poetry Rich with Life
I read a book today that reminded me,
however content I am,
I have forgotten about the poetry of life.

The book reading overwhelmed me
and I had to escape from my cubicle and
walk outside to stand under a tree,
regain my balance,
and admit to having let it slip away
unknowingly, sometime before today

Will I make some great resolve?
Probably not.
But I did enjoy the book.
And its reading has left me refreshed
and contemplative.
And this is good.

I'd like to thank the author,
and let him know that his words
made me alternately grin and
shed a tear.
I want to thank him for sharing his
words with the world.

So - thank you - I need to go back outside now and
Explore my own Paths and Passages.
